Arrivederci Venezia

Our last night in Venice.  I've been here 3 times now and it still remains one of my most favourite places in the world.  I don't know why.  It's old; the streets are narrow and maze-like, requiring a map everywhere you go; it's kinda dirty and it's super mafiosa expensive!

But I love it.

You just can't beat the quaintness of the bridges; the everyday adventure that is finding your way back to your hotel; the alluring smarminess of the gondoliers; the way you stand up at the bar to drink your espresso; the way they drink wine out of a jug and oh my goodness, the food!  On top of all of that there is so much history and so many stories that have all come out of this little group of islands that used to be marshy swamp land.  Every time I walk over a bridge or through door way, I think 'who has walked this exact path before me?  Who were they?  What were they wearing?  Where were they going?'

It simply blows my mind!

Our last dinner naturally had to be pasta...

We watched the world go by.... including this bride and groom, he was pulling the suitcase whilst licking a gelato in a cone! I mean, where and when did he stop to buy that?

And who doesn't love a country where they offer you Lemoncello after your meal - on the house?

Bon Appitito!

Grazie Mille!

et

Buona Notte!
