Babes In The Wood

On our last day in this idyllic paradise, it was unanimous that we take one last little ramble along the babbling brook to the lake.... I think you'll agree that it was very much worth it.

How gorgeous is this scene?  This dog is obviously too old to ramble himself, so his human carries him in this buggy. Beautiful!

Saskia, ever the city girl, purchased a brand new fold away backpack for the weekend at one of the many many hiking shops in Ambleside.  It was so handy that Jenny bought one as well!

The scenery was absolutely breathtaking.  Makes you wonder why we don't ramble everyday!

We arrived at this bridge and the girls starting scurrying around for sticks - Poo Sticks.  On hearing this, I enquired "Um, Poo Sticks?"

Trish replied "Not Poo Sticks..... Pooh Sticks, as in Winnie the Pooh"
You throw them over one side and watch them race under the bridge on the other.

So, the Pooh Sticks went over......

And raced on through..... Trish's obviously came first!

There are paths and tracks all over this area.  Fabulous for dogs.  Our Leo would have had a field day here.

Ooksi, Kuksi, Colme....... or in English - 1, 2, 3 - and turn

Fauna wherever we turned

And flora

Lovely ladies who like to ramble

And at last we reached the lake ....

What a gorgeous bunch of friends I've got hey?

And an even more gorgeous Jenny!

Tans getting up close and personal as she strives for the perfect shot..... and the one on the right is what she was aiming for.  Looks a bit like the Thames logo for, um, was it the BBC?

Beautifully coloured ducks

And our attempt at stone skimming!

Attempt number 1 for a tricky panoramic shot where the peeps appear at both ends of the photo.......

Attempt number 2 - perfect.... although Jen doesn't appear to know what the hell is going on! :-)

This dog just wanted to play but his people were heading away from the lake....

come on, give me the stick.....

I. Don't. Want. To. Go. Home. Yet!

I'm not sure what we're spelling out here...

We spotted the same bird on the way back and he was more than happy to pose for us.
