The Golden Rule

Because of all the loud talkers we’ve come across, Tanya found
'The Golden Rule'

a quiet pub that boasts no music, no loud talkers….. and allows dogs - so long as they're quiet. We made our way straight there to meet up with Trish and a few minutes later Kat, who after driving in first gear for 8 solid hours arrived looking like she'd just stepped out of a salon!

Dinner was at Sheila’s Cottage, a dear little restaurant in the town of Ambleside, just around the corner from the pub.

 Trish                                                       Saskia & Tans

After dinner we headed back to our B&B for wine and nightcaps in the lounge.  Poor Kat had driven for 8 hours and couldn’t drink over dinner as she had to drive, so we got stuck in once we were home.

During this little session, we worked out that it will be 10 years next February that I first went to London to live and first met these lovely ladies.

(This is what we looked like back in the day)

To celebrate, It was suggested that we hire a castle somewhere in the UK for a weekend where we would dress up in medieval costume and eat with our hands (not sure why?) Then as the conversation progressed it was suggested that we dress as woman throughout history who we have admired….. Xena, Warrior Princess, Julie Andrews,  Cila Black.  Even the men in our lives would be expected to follow this dress up rule.
Then after much discussion about costumes we have worn in the past, it was decided that we would just dress up as people or things that we already have the costume for.

Tanya might be Daisy Duke or the Black Swan.

Kat could be Xena, Warrior Princess or Marge Simpson?

Trish could be Strawberry Shortcake or Holly Hobby!

and Saskia might still be Cilla Black

Oh Saskia, how lucky you are that I don't have any pictures of you in dress up!

and....

it’s Big Julie for me all the way, either that or a Rubic’s Cube!

After a couple of bottles of wine and Tanya falling asleep on the couch, we called it a night and ascended into our oven style rooms.
